Former BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal’s three-year MMA hiatus is over, as he will face Shara Magomedov at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 11 in a grappling match.
Masvidal, who has not competed in MMA since April 2023 after losing to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, will face Magomedov under submission-only grappling rules. This marks a significant shift for Masvidal, whose recent competitive outing was a 10-round boxing majority decision loss to Nate Diaz in July 2024.
Meanwhile, Magomedov is coming off his grappling debut for Hype FC in late 2025, where he fought to a draw against #1 lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan last December. Despite signing for the Hype FC event, Masvidal has made it clear that his ultimate goal remains a return to the Octagon, with a desire to compete on the UFC White House card on June 14.
