Jorge Masvidal’s Prediction For McGregor Vs. Holloway At UFC 329

Conor McGregor returns to action after five years away from the sport this weekend against Max Holloway at UFC 329, and Jorge Masvidal feels the time away from the cage will certainly influence his performance.

McGregor most recently stepped into the UFC octagon back in 2021 for his trilogy match with Dustin Poirier, which resulted in a TKO loss caused by the Irishman breaking his leg. He had his return match scheduled for 2024 against Michael Chandler, following the pair coaching opposite one another on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, but unfortunately the match did not come to fruition because of another injury.

Now, ‘The Notorious’ will make his long-awaited return on July 11th at UFC 329, where he will square off with Holloway during International Fight Week 2026 in Las Vegas.

During a recent podcast episode, former UFC BMF titleholder Jorge Masvidal gave his take on the matchup, citing that he feels the more recently experienced fighter in Holloway will be in control of the fight as things progress.

“I think it’s going to be a real fight with Max,” Masvidal said on Deep Waters. “Like I’ve been saying, I’m riding with Max, I’m betting the house on Max. I think Max is going to make it non-competitive.

There’s going to be a point after like a minute or two in the fight that Max is going to take over. All the experience that he’s put together in these five years, and staying in shape – that’s the No. 1 thing, as we all know. In this fight, you have a Ferrari vs. a Honda Civic, but the Ferrari has a quarter tank of gas, he’s going to lose every time. I think Max gets it done.”
