Jose Aldo Gets Date For Boxing Debut

He retired from MMA in September.

Jose Aldo’s boxing debut is reportedly near.

MMA Fighting recently reported that Aldo will appear in the boxing ring on February 10 in Rio de Janeiro, his home country. No opponent or weight class have been announced yet, but Aldo will fight under Russia’s Hardcore Boxing, which will also feature former boxing champion Sergey Kovalev.

“It was always a dream I had in my life, I never hid that from anyone. It was always a dream. But let’s see. Everybody says I’m still young, that I have a few years [left]. First, for now, with the birth of my son, I want to enjoy my family, and then I’ll think of the professional side,” Aldo previously said.

Aldo retired from MMA in September after losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278. He is considered one of the greatest featherweights of all time.

He left the sport with a 31-8 record.

Outside of combat sports, Aldo has been in headlines recently for other reasons.
