Jose Zepeda Vs. Kendo Castaneda Results
Although this is not the fight Jose Zepeda expected to have, he will still give it his all. Inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Top Rank will once again look to take over the boxing world on July 7.
The main event will be Zepeda (31-2, 2NC) taking on Kendo Castaneda. Ivan Baranchyk, Zepeda’s original opponent, injured himself a week before the fight.
Zepeda is 1-1 in his last three fights with one no-contest. He last fought in September, beating Jose Pedraza via unanimous decision. The 31-year-old is looking to get back into title contention following a loss to WBC Light-Welterweight Champion Jose Ramirez in February 2019. While not taking his opponent lightly, Zepeda is interested in eventually facing Baranchyk.
Castaneda (17-1) is coming off of a loss back in February against Yomar Alamo. It was the first loss of his career, for the WBO NABO Super-Lightweight Title. He was booked for another fight this month for Top Rank against Julian Rodriguez before getting the main event promotion. He will now look to make the most of his opportunity and beat the odds that are literally against him.
