Joseph Parker Looking To Make Statement In Heavyweight Division Vs. Jack Massey This Weekend
He fights Jack Massey in Manchester.
New Zealand professional boxer Joseph Parker has been a man on a mission recently.
He skipped birthday, New Year, and Christmas celebrations to prepare for the fight against Jack Massey in Manchester.
The Kiwi boxer would be returning to the same arena where he was stopped by Joe Joyce in the 11th round of their heavyweight clash.
Although Parker is the favorite going into this fight, his trainer Andy Lee believes he has worked hard for this encounter.
“He missed Christmas, new year’s and he also turned 31 years old on January 10. All of those have been spent in training camp preparing,” Lee said.
“There was no need to lift the spirits after the Joyce defeat, he is as motivated as I’ve ever seen him.”
Parker himself sounds extremely confident for his match against Massey. The former WBO heavyweight champion aims to bring himself back in the title contention on Saturday night. He wants to make his opponent regret his decision to climb in weight.
“He’s got big balls I’ll give him that,” said Parker. “But there are divisions in boxing for a reason. I’m going to be the bigger man. I’m going to fight like the bigger man, back him up and push him back. I’m going to make him think about if he really wants to be in the heavyweight division.”
