Josh Taylor Guarantees Victory Over Jose Ramirez

Josh Taylor is banking on becoming the undisputed light-welterweight champion.

Taylor and Ramirez will collide on May 22. Taylor will put his WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring gold on the line, while Ramirez’s WBC and WBO Titles will be at stake. The winner of this tilt will earn the undisputed distinction at 140 pounds.

The folks at iFL TV got in touch with Taylor more than two months before the big title fight. “The Tartan Tornado” guarantees that he’ll be getting his hand raised when the dust has settled and the smoke is clear (via BoxingScene.com).

“You can ask any fighter, and they’ll all tell you that they’d love to fight in America. I’ve worked hard for this opportunity and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.

“I’m not going to put any pressure on myself. I’ve achieved my goal of becoming a world champion. Everything else is a bonus if it happens.

“I really do believe this is the perfect time for me to make history and cement my legacy in the history books. I’m going to win this fight 100%, and America is getting ready to take notice of Josh Taylor.

“To Ramirez, be ready, train hard, and may the best man win. I wish him all the best. I will see you on May 22nd. To my fans, hopefully, I can provide you with a victory.”

Both Taylor and Ramirez are undefeated in their pro boxing careers. Taylor is 17-0 with 13 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Ramirez has a record of 26-0 with 17 knockouts to his credit.

In his last outing back in September 2020, Taylor successfully defended his gold via first-round KO over the previously unbeaten Apinun Khongsong. Ramirez’s most recent bout was in August. He defeated Viktor Postol via unanimous decision to retain the WBC and WBO Titles.
