Josh Taylor Vs. Jack Catterall II ‘Locked In’ For March

Their date was originally targeted for February 2023.

The rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall is reportedly “locked in.”

BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom said that the pair will meet once again in Glasgow in March.

“We’ve been working on it for a few months, but I can now officially announce that both fighters have signed for the fight,” Shalom told talkSPORT.

“The fight date [in March] is locked in and it’ll be announced in the next week or so. It’s imminent and it will be in Glasgow, back at the scene of the crime.

“And I think it could be one of the most significant fights in British boxing for a long time because of what happened. Josh Taylor could have gone on to other things, but decided, ‘You know what? I’m going to put this wrong right’. Fair play to him and Jack Catterall gets the opportunity that I think the whole nation feels like he deserves.”

Back in February of this year, Taylor retained his undisputed super lightweight titles with a heavily controversial split decision. Many boxing fans, and pro boxers, criticized the scorecards, which were mainly in favor of Taylor, though many thought that Catterall had done enough to edge Taylor, including a knockdown of the champion in the eighth round.

The judges and scorecards were later investigated.

Since then, both Taylor and Catterall have cleared their paths to get another fight with one another.

Their rematch will have less at stake as Taylor relinquished three belts – skipping out on three mandatories – so that he can be left with the WBO belt, which Catterall is mandatory for.

Earlier in October, the rematch was reportedly to take place on February 4, but it seems that that’s been pushed back.
