Josh Warrington Gets His Rematch Against Mauricio Lara On September 4

Former IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington is set to meet Mauricio Lara in the rematch on September 4. The former champ is eager to make amends for losing the first showdown. The second bout between both juggernauts of the featherweight division was confirmed by Matchroom Sports CEO Eddie Hearn. They will fight at the Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds before over 20,000 supporters.

The Bronc was considered an underdog, journeyman for his February meeting against Warrington. The boxing fraternity had expected Warrington to stroll past Lara to set up a thrilling fight against Xu Can, but fate had other plans. Lara came out hard against the former IBF champ and overwhelmed him in the fight before a ninth-round stoppage declared him the winner.

Lara is brimming with confidence before his September 4 showdown.

“I’ve never been much of a talker, I’d rather do my talking in the ring. I’m going for a repeat performance on September 4. Hit once hit twice. Warrington should know that I am coming for him. This is all about pride. This is for Mexico!” Lara said.
