Joshua Buatsi Vs. Dan Azeez Preliminary And Undercard Live Results, Recaps: Adam Azim Triumphs In European Title Defense With Fifth-Round Stoppage

Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez face off in tonight’s WBA Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator live from Wembley Arena in London.

The British undefeated fighters know that a victory puts them in a mandatory position to fight Dmitry Bivol for his WBA Light Heavyweight Title. Buatsi enters the fight with a unanimous decision win against Pawel Stepien. His current record is 17-0, with 13 knockouts.

He faces his friend and previous sparring partner, Azeez, who is also on a good run of form. His biggest win was against Rocky Fielding in 2022. Azeez has boxed overseas in his last two fights, beating Thomas Faure and Khalid Graidia in France and Italy, respectively.

In chief support, Adam Azim defends his European Super Lightweight Title against the unbeaten Enock Poulsen. Azim took his record to 10-0, beating Franck Petitjean to get the belt. That made him the fastest Englishman to win the European Title. Poulsen also won that belt after beating Petitjean in 2022 but was stripped as he couldn’t make his mandatory defense due to an illness.

Adam Azim vs. Enock Poulsen – European Super Lightweight Title

Adam Azim made a successful second defense of his European Super Lightweight Title as he secured a stoppage win over Enock Poulsen in the fifth round after his opponent could no longer continue following a shoulder injury. Azim looked comfortable early on, potshotting Poulsen with his front hand.

The champion followed that up with counter right hands to edge the rounds. Azim was the quicker fighter, beating Poulsen to the punch. As Azim looked to increase the pace, Poulsen injured his shoulder and could no longer continue.

At the time of the stoppage, Azim was ahead of all three scorecards. Azim will now target a world title shot.

Official Result: Adam Azim def. Enock Poulsen via a fifth-round TKO.

Ben Whittaker vs. Khalid Graidia – Light Heavyweight

Ben Whittaker dominated Khalid Graidia to stop him in the fifth round. After a slow first round, Whittaker dropped Graidia in the second with solid left hook to the body as his opponent took a delayed knee.

Whittaker continued his dominance, but he was warned by the referee for patting on the back of the head and showboating excessively, resulting in a point being deducted. That only delayed the inevitable as Whittaker backed Graidia on the ropes before letting fly with numerous combinations, as the referee stopped the fight. The win was all the more impressive since Graidia went the distance with Dan Azeez.
