Joshua-Miller Sets MSG Pre-Sale Record
Those who say unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua would have great drawing power in the U.S. may have backup for the claim now, as his upcoming title defense against Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller has become the highest grossing pre-sale for a boxing event at Madison Square Garden.
Joshua will make his U.S. debut with the unified world title defense against the Brooklyn-born Miller at the New York arena on June 1. The bout broke the pre-sale record inside of two hours the day tickets went on pre-sale.
“We know that AJ is a huge box office hit in the UK but to break the pre-sale record at the iconic Madison Square Garden is astounding,” Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, said. “We are building a huge event on June 1 and we look forward to the all the build-up beginning with next Tuesdays press conference in New York.”
Tickets for the general public go on sale Tuesday, February 19.
“We are thrilled with the early excitement for tickets,” said Joel Fisher, executive vice president, MSG Marquee Events. “Anthony Joshua versus Jarrell Miller will be an epic event at Madison Square Garden and we encourage fans to purchase tickets now because this fight will sell out.”
