While he may be heading towards Joseph Parker on March 31st, Anthony Joshua’s eyes are peeled on different opponents, whether they be in the boxing ring or the octagon.
Speaking with the Sky Sports podcast Toe 2 Toe, Joshua is interested in jumping into the world of mixed martial arts, and has a few names in mind if he’s able to go from boxing to the UFC.
“I feel like a good scrap would be, I think the guy from Congo [ he means Cameroonian fighter, Francis Ngannou]. I think he just lost recently. Big unit, that’d be a good scrap” said Joshua.
Another and more controversial name would be former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, who Joshua believes would give him a “good scrap” as well.
The popular British boxer isn’t thinking that he would immediately step into the Octagon with Ngannou or Jones, as he would need to get acclimated first.
“Yeah. I’d have to obviously have a couple of warm-up fights because you have to learn the submissions and stuff. But a fight’s a fight at the end of the day. Yeah man, I’d do it.”
With Joshua’s interest, and Dana White a big fan of the heavyweight boxer, there may be more to this than people think. One has to wonder what would be next for Joshua no matter the result on March 31st, as Joshua sets his sights on a potential American invasion.
