Joyce May Have Tune-Up, Dubois Fight in April

Unbeaten Joe Joyce is planned to return to the ring soon for a “tune-up” bout before facing fellow unbeaten British heavyweight Daniel Dubois in April.

Joyce was scheduled to face former cruiserweight champion and heavyweight title challenger Marco Huck on January 11, but Huck was forced out of action with an injury last month.

That left the door open for the possibility of a showdown between Joyce and Dubois, who were training partners during Joyce’s Olympic boxing run in 2016.

Joyce’s promoter, Frank Warren, believes the two sides can come to a deal, though it may include a “tune-up” bout to allow Joyce to shake off any ring rust.

Joyce was last seen in action in July, scoring a unanimous decision win over Bryant Jennings.

Dubois, meanwhile, most recently competed about a month ago, making quick work of Kyotaro Fujimoto with a second-round knockout.
