On April 15th, 2023, Joe Joyce is set to face Zhilei Zhang in an entertaining heavyweight clash at the Copper Box, London.

Joyce (15-0) will put his WBO interim title on the line against the Chinese southpaw, Zhang (24-1). Both arrive into the bout with mixed results.

In his previous fight, the ‘Juggernaut’ knocked out Joseph Parker in the 11th round, while Zhang came out second best in a unanimous-decision loss to Filip Hrgovic.

Yet, Zhang, on another day, could have walked out victorious, with murmurs over the decision.

Joyce’s jab and durable chin will be key to walking down the 39-year-old, who clearly isn’t getting any younger, with plenty of miles on the clock.

In contrast, Zhang, the crafty southpaw, will attempt to use his speed, movement and left hand to keep Joyce at bay. Joyce currently holds the required position to challenge Oleksandr Usyk’s WBO title.

Should he successfully endure the challenge ahead, he would put himself up for a chance to become a world champion for the first time.

And in the process, he could throw a spanner in the works for the undisputed bout involving Usyk and Tyson Fury. Victory for Zhang, however, would revitalize his credentials at the twilight of his career.
