Juan Francisco Estrada Vs. Chocolatito Gonzalez To Fight For WBC 115-Pound Title

It's targeted for December 3 in Arizona.

The rubber match between Juan Francisco ‘El Gallo’ Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez has been confirmed for the WBC 115-pound title.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has said: “It will be contested for the WBC title.”

San Antonio’s Jesse Rodriguez had earlier announced that he will vacate the title as he is moving into the 112-pound flyweight division.

Now both Estrada and Gonzalez have agreed to the slated fight on December 3, and signed their agreements for the super fight that will go down at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Estrada (43-3, 28KOs) is the incumbent lineal champion who also holds the WBC ‘Franchise’ title. Later, the WBC approved his request to contend for the WBO flyweight title that Junto Nakatani had left vacant.

This could be an opportunity in disguise for Gonzalez (51-3, 41KOs) as he has the chance to become a three-time junior bantamweight titlist if he can beat Estrada.

He had earlier clinched the WBC 115-pound title with a win over Carlos Cuadras in September 2016. However, the four-division champ’s reign was short-lived as he conceded back-to-back defeats to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in 2017.

On the other hand, Estrada has gone on to defend the lineal crown four times since avenging his loss to Sor Rungvisai in April 2019. The Thai slugger had beaten him back in February 2018.
