Judge Orders To Proceed With The Cain Velasquez Attempted Murder Case

After numerous discussions in the media and behind the scenes, an important ruling has been made to proceed with Cain Velasquez’s attempted murder case.

Judge Jessica Delgado decided on certain portions of the defense’s request for the district attorney to recognize pieces of evidence from Harry Goularte’s felony case. The judge took the decision on October 13 at Santa Clara County Hall of Justice in San Jose, Calif.

The decision from Delgado comes on the back of numerous court dates, continuations, and negotiations between the defense and the prosecution. According to the reports, the disagreements first came to the floor in June.

The 40-year-old Velasquez currently faces an attempted murder charge after he allegedly chased before taking down Goularte. The 43-year-old was apparently accused of molesting Velasquez’s four-year-old child.

The crossovers between the parties of both individuals have continued since these allegations. Velasquez’s lead attorney Mark Geragos believes that the district attorney’s office was “serving two masters”.

The district attorney’s office had worked in accordance with Geragos’ demands for pieces of evidence regarding the Goularte case. Delgado went with the district attorney’s rejections apart from the two aspects to which she granted defense access.

Moreover, the judge ruled that there was no need for additional discovery by the district attorney. If Goularte’s mother Patricia and stepfather Paul Bender come in as witnesses, the defense may need to consider the additional information.

Velasquez has his work cut out as he has to return to the court for a pre-trial today, October 17.
