Judoka Protest Georgian Federation President
For the first time in the history of the nation of Georgia, none of their Judoka took home a medal at the European Championships in Tel Aviv.
Following the poor showing, the coaching staff of Georgia’s national judo team resigned. Now, the athletes who make u p the team are demanding that the president of the Federation, David Kevkhishvili resign.
In an article published by JudoInside, Varlam Liparteliani claimed that, “the Georgian judo team needs support from the federation, both with the provision of training conditions, and with the selection of the proper coaches, support in the international arena and other important directions.”
“Due to unacceptable and harmful situation, by the decision of the team we declare that we will not participate in any tournament and stop training until the president of the federation resigns from his post.”
