Julianna Peña Gives Sneak Peek Of Upcoming TUF Season With Amanda Nunes
Two of the world’s best women’s bantamweights Julianna Peña and Amanda Nunes will be facing each other in the upcoming edition of Ultimate Fighter.
The new season is scheduled to start on May 3 with Peña and Nunes taking center stage as the coaches. The filming had begun back in February, with ESPN+ to premiere the show next month.
Peña (11-4, 3 KOs) pulled off one of the greatest upsets in the history of MMA when she finished Nunes in the second round via rear-naked choke back in December 2021.
Heading to the fight, the two were involved in a heated buildup, with Peña accusing Nunes on several occasions of avoiding her.
Now the two are set to face each other in a rematch later this year and the tension is already soaring.
During a recent interview with The Schmo, Peña gave an insight into what it was like to film with the former double champ as she learned a few more things about the Brazilian.
“I would say that she’s a little bit more high maintenance than I had originally anticipated. That’s for sure,” Peña said.
Nunes has been regarded as one of the greatest in women’s MMA..
Peña has accused Nunes of ‘fakeness’ and argued that the show will surely depict her this face to the audience as well.
“Yeah, I would definitely say that there’s a little bit of like a sad bravado about her that I think that she’s really wanting to come back and get her belt back. And so we had some words. We had some choice words. You’re gonna have to watch the show. But yeah, not gonna happen,” she added.
Peña hasn’t had a smooth ride earning a title shot as she suffered a loss against Germaine de Randamie before defeating Sara McMann at UFC 257.
The victory against McMann opened the door to the title for Peña along with her octagon antics and callouts forcing UFC to put her up against the GOAT.
The TUF has seen all bringing out the best and the worst of the fighters during the production of the show.
