Julianna Peña ‘Will Not Miss’ If Given Trilogy Fight Against Amanda Nunes

Former UFC champion Julianna Peña has made a soft plea to the organization to set her up with a third fight against Amanda Nunes soon.

Peña and Nunes have fought twice, having won once each. In their first encounter at UFC 269 in December 2021, Peña sent shockwaves in the MMA industry after she pulled off a win no one was expecting her to.

The American star submitted Nunes to capture the title in a stunning upset but lost to the Lioness in their rematch at UFC 277 this past July.

In a recent post on Instagram, Peña revealed that the only thing on her mind is a trilogy fight against Nunes to regain the title she lost.

“Everyone keeps asking me what’s next,” the 33-year-old wrote. “I’m getting my belt back that’s what’s next! A trilogy with [Nunes] is the fight to make. I did everything I said I was going to do going into that first fight. I gave Amanda the immediate rematch within six months and a man maybe I should have sat out for two years like she does?”

“She had to go home and revamp her entire style to beat me. I take it as a compliment. She outsmarted me the second time I give her that. We are 1-1 and this time I will not miss. [UFC], the trilogy needs to happen.”

Nunes has not exactly revealed the next time she wants to fight. In the post-match interview at UFC 277, she said that she would take some rest from the sport back at her home in Brazil.
