Justin Gaethje Will ‘Give No Disrespect’ To Charles Oliveira After UFC 269 Win

The tides have turned in a matter of days for the reigning lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

The Brazilian grappler who had been receiving a fair bit of criticism from his fellow 155-pound peers is now being credited by the same crowd.

Going into the fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, “Do Bronx” was hardly given a chance of coming out victorious but Oliveira once again proved his critics wrong as he dismantled Poirier to retain his title in the main event.

The current No.1 lightweight contender, Justin Gaethje, was all praise for Oliveira lauding the gusty performance of the champion.

Prior to the event, Gaethje had some harsh things to say about Oliveira labeling him as a “quitter” but that didn’t last long as the “Highlight” had nothing but respect for the champ.

“I will give no disrespect to Charles,” Gaethje said on the UFC 269 post-fight show. “He is now the undisputed champion and I cannot wait to fight him. I don’t care where or when.”

Like many others, Gaethje also doubted Oliveira’s credentials as a champion. But following his spirited effort, the “Highlight” also couldn’t help but accept him as his next rival in the octagon.

“I saw a competitor tonight. I saw a dog and I can’t wait to break his face,” he added.

Gaethje hadn’t met Oliveira in person before the UFC 269 but following his post-show interview, he ran into “Do Bronx” and was seen complimenting the Champion.

“That was f—king awesome man,” Gaethje told Oliveira. “That was absolutely beautiful. Nothing but respect, honestly. You deserve it.”
