Kakuryu, Goeido, Hakuho All Victorious

Ozeki Goeido and yokozuna Hakuho both managed to rebound from losses, while Kakuryu continued his winning ways on Saturday, the seventh day of the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament.

After suffering a loss to Tamawashi on Friday, Goeido looked like he would suffer an upsetting defeat for the second day in a row when the winless Kaisei had him up against the straw ridge. Fortunately for Goeido, he came back and was able to defeat Kaisei with a makiotoshi, a twist-down technique.

Goeido is looking to earn a promotion to yokozuna; however, he must come very close to winning the Emperor’s Cup in this tournament, if not win it, in order to complete his mission.

Hakuho defeated No. 2 maegashira Yoshikaze (1-6) by simply charging and shoving him in the back to send him out of the ring.

Kakuryu came away with a win over third-ranked maegashira Endo, and yokozuna Harumafuji forced his way through Mitakeumi.

Ozeki Kisenosato was upset by third-ranked maegashira Shodai, Takayasu took down Kotoshogiku and Terunofuji defeated Aoiyama.
