Kakuryu Reclaims Share Of Lead In Summer Basho

Following a second surprising loss in the 2019 Summer Grand Tournament, Kakuryu has reclaimed a share of the lead heading into the tournament’s final days.

Kakuryu shares the lead with rank-and-filer Asanoyama, who would take a step back with his second loss of the tournament on Thursday, while Kakuryu would stop maegashira Ryuden.

The next challenge awaiting the popular yokozuna will be a Friday meeting with Takayasu as he looks for his sixth makuuchi-division title.

Asonyama’s loss would come from third ranked Tamawashi, losing the sole lead he had in the tournament due to Tamawashi sending him out of the ring with a chest bump.
