Kalnina Wins Gold In Agadir

The women’s final of the Grand Prix in Agadir, showcased 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, Anamari Velensek and 15th ranked Yelyzaveta Kalanina facing off.

And it would be the world ranked Kalanina looking to utilize her size against put the pressure on Velensek, so much so that Velensek would be penalized twice in regulation of passivity.

Kalanina would persist with her strategy during the golden score period, and while Velensek would take a final passivity penalty, which would yield Kalanina her first gold medal in a Grand Prix.
