Kamaru Usman Shares The Time He Lost $60K To ‘Attractive’ Investor

Kamaru Usman learned an expensive lesson early during his career when he “invested” $60,000 for nothing.

He talked with an attractive woman, who he met by his friend, and decided to invest in the market. However, he did not see any profit.

“Everything I always heard, ‘Yeah, you gotta put money in the market. You gotta invest in this; invest, invest.’ I’m like, ‘Alright.’ I didn’t really know what I was doing. So, a friend introduced me to some lady who invests for you. So, she approaches me. We have a conversation. We talk. She was attractive,” Usman told GQ Sports.

“Of course, nothing happened on that front. But she was attractive. So, it was very easy to be distracted. Give her about almost $60,000; haven’t seen that money since.

“Yeah. I don’t think I did my due diligence as far as the homework and the research behind this person. Gave her about 60 bands, and [the money] just flew away.”

Now, Usman has earned way more money during his career, but he learned a costly lesson.

Usman earned the belt by dethroning Tyron Woodley back in 2019. Since that moment, he defended his title five times.

He defeated Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal twice and earned a TKO victory against his former teammate Gilbert Burns almost a year ago.

For this moment, he remains as the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter and will protect his title against Leon Edwards, which also will be a rematch fight for him.
