Kamaru Usman Catching Up To Anderson Silva’s Win Streak

Usman has won his 14 fights in a row since joining the UFC.

With a win over Colby Covington in a grudge match at UFC 268, the Nigerian Nightmare will cement his authority in the welterweight division and inch closer to Silva’s win record that many pundits thought was unbreakable till now.

This is the fifth time the champ is defending his title since he won it from Tyron Woodley in March 2019.

In all of his title defenses, Covington looked the most threatening against Usman. The Nigerian Nightmare seemingly had a tough time putting away the challenger when the pair met for the first time in December 2020 at UFC 245.

They have shared bad blood for years and have been talking smack against each other whenever they get an opportunity, especially Covington, who claims that UFC should strip the champ of his title.

While Usman and Covington will highlight the main event, Rose Namajunas will defend her Strawweight title against Zhang Weili. Namajunas knocked out Weili in their last meeting to become the Strawweight queen for the second time.
