Kamaru Usman Undergoes Hand Surgery, Dana White Posts Graphic Evidence
UFC President Dana White posted a gruesome photo of Kamaru Usman.
Usman, the UFC welterweight champion and No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, had surgery to repair a ligament in his hand. His manager, Ali Abdelaziz confirmed the news and White’s photo provided further evidence.
In November, Usman revealed that he broke his hand during a sparring session with teammate Justin Gaethje three weeks before UFC 268, where he headlined a rematch against Colby Covington.
Usman is targeting a return for International Fight Week, the UFC’s annual summer celebration in Las Vegas, which is scheduled for July 2.
White has suggested that Usman’s next title defense will be against top contender Leon Edwards. Edwards last defeated Nate Diaz and was supposed to have a grudge match against Jorge Masvidal, but it fell through.
Usman (20-1) has been regarded as one of the top MMA fighters.
He has won 15 straight fights, just one off the UFC record winning streak, currently held by former middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
