Kambosos And Lomachenko Eyeing An April Bout

Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. are reportedly in talks for a fight in April.

Reports indicate that a fight is close for April in Australia that would place the former unified lightweight champion, Kambosos, against the three-division champion in Loma. Kambosos’ last fight was an unconvincing majority-decision win over Maxi Hughes. Meanwhile, Lomachenko suffered a controversial loss to Devin Haney via a unanimous decision. The American then moved up to 140 to face Regis Prograis for the latter’s WBC belt. That could result in Haney vacating his IBF belt, which then Kambosos and Loma could fight for. And by the looks of it, a world title is the aim.

“We should expect him to be back some time next year. After that not a loss – but a “loss” – he just said he’s not gonna do anything until the end of the year. He’s taking it easy, doing whatever he does at home, and next year we’re gonna come and start looking into the fights. We’re not gonna fight just any fight, he wants to fight for a world title. 135, yes,” Egis Klimas (Loma’s manager) stated

Much in the same way, Kambosos had previously expressed his desire to face the Ukrainian after his fight with Hughes. And the latest news was a testament to the following comments.

“We got a big stadium fight coming. We’ll fight Lomachenko next. That’s the fight. He’s more open to throw his shots and engage. I want to engage, and that’s a big fight that I get up for,” Kambosos Jr. said
