Karate Star Antonio Diaz Featured In The World Karate Federation’s Online Campaign

In an attempt to engage with fans of karate during the coronavirus pandemic, the World Karate Federation recently launched the #LearnKarateWith campaign. Featuring some of the top karate stars in the world, the program will look to encourage those to be the best that they can be.

Leading the first training session was Antonio Diaz. The two-time World Karate Championships gold medalist focused on “Kihon”, which is classified as the fundamentals of karate. He managed to improve mobility while looking into the style of karate being performed.

“This initiative from the WKF and the WKF Athletes’ Commission is created to motivate all of you during these hard times,” Diaz stated via the WKF. “We are going through difficult moments due to the pandemic of coronavirus. I hope this is a motivation for you to keep going forward and to keep growing in these troubled times.”

Diaz stated earning praise in 1993 when he reached gold in the Young Pan American Games. He has won gold six times in major competition; World Karate Championships, World Games, and Pan American Games. Hundreds of fans reportedly watched Diaz showcase several moves and words of wisdom.

“One of the questions we had was about balance,” Diaz went on to say. “You must pay attention to four points: our two shoulders and our two sides of the hips. If these four points are aligned, then your balance is guaranteed.”

Recently, it was announced that the World Karate Championships, set to take place in November, is still on. Other major competitions, like the Karate 1-Premier League, have been postponed due to the virus.

The next #LearnKarateWith campaign will take place on June 23 and it will feature Douglas Brose.
