Katie Taylor Open To A Twelve-Round Rematch With Serrano

Two-weight undisputed champion Katie Taylor is willing to face Amanda Serrano in a 12-round rematch under the same rules as men’s boxing.

The Irishwoman just became the new undisputed super lightweight champion after a majority-decision win over Chantelle Cameron. The victory avenged Taylor’s loss in the first fight, setting up a potential trilogy with Cameron for next year. Eddie Hearn confirmed as much, with Croke Park being singled out as a potential venue. Although that may be the case, Taylor was open to facing Serrano again. The 37-year-old successfully defended her undisputed lightweight little against Serrano in 2022 with a split-decision victory. A rematch had been agreed. However, Serrano withdrew due to injury as Cameron stepped in. Taylor lost that subsequent bout to Cameron, but her latest victory has left her with a choice between Serrano or a third fight with Cameron.

“I’d be happy to do twelve threes with Amanda. I think twelve threes suits a boxer more than a fighter so I’ll be very, very happy to fight twelve threes. I really don’t care. Either one is fine to be honest. I think it’s wherever the best fights and biggest fights are. I can easily go back to 135 but it’s wherever the best fights are,” Taylor

At 37, Taylor’s aim will be to secure the biggest fights around. And with the Serrano fight generating 1.5 million viewers, it became the most watched female-headlining-boxing fight in history. And given the response on social media, there is an appetite to see a Taylor-Serrano rematch.
