Katie Taylor To Headline October Card At The Same Arena She Debuted

Women’s boxing ace Katie Taylor is set to make another appearance inside the ring.

Her opponent is yet to be finalized but her promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the boxer will headline the October 29 event.

In a conversation on “The MMA Hour” With Ariel Helwani, Hearn said:
“[Katie Taylor] will be headlining back where she debuted, at Wembley Arena.”

The veteran promoter did not reveal any details about the opponent, but tabled a few big names in the combat sports that the team is considering for the moment for Taylor (21-0, 6 KOs).

“Watch this space. She has a number of mandatories to take care of. We’re also going to keep a keen eye on Cris Cyborg, who I believe has got her boxing debut coming up,” Hearn said.

“She (Cyborg) won’t be fighting her on October 29th but that could be one for maybe the end of the year or very early next year.”

A Taylor vs Cyborg showdown has been in discussion since the start of the summer. The former MMA champ is, however, set to have her boxing debut on September 25 in Brazil against Simone Silva.

“We’re still talking about the Amanda Serrano rematch as well [with] MVP. The legend shall return October 29th in London … at Wembley Arena,” Hearn added.

In May, Taylor had defeated Serrano via split decision to retain the lightweight championship. Judges scored the contest 94-96, 97-93, 96-93.
