Katie Taylor Vs Amanda Serrano Booked For April In New York

A fight for boxing history books has been set.

Katie Taylor (20-0, 6 KOs) will meet Amanda Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs) in the ring on April 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Taylor is putting her four major lightweight belts on the line for the sixth time.

Irish star Taylor is ranked as the world’s best active female lightweight by BoxRec and top female pound-for-pound fighter by The Ring and BoxRec. In 2019, she became one of only eight boxers in history to hold all four major world titles — WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO — simultaneously.

“This is a fight I’ve wanted for a long, long time and I’m just excited for it to finally take place because these are the kind of fights I’m in the sport for,” Taylor said in a statement.

Taylor fought three times in 2021, winning all by unanimous decision against names like Natasha Jones, Jennifer Han and, more recently, Firuza Sharipova. She also holds a win over Serrano’s sister, Cindy, back in Octobet 2018.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rican sensation Serrano is already a seven-weight titlist. She also fought three times in 2021 with two wins nabbed by unanimous decision and one by knockout. These victories are held over Daniela Romina Bermudez, Yamileth Mercado and, most recently, Miriam Gutierrez.

Serrano was named 2021 Female Fighter of the Year by ESPN and WBC.

“It is a dream come true to have the opportunity to headline Madison Square Garden and do so against one of the greatest boxers of all time in Katie Taylor,” Serrano said in a statement.

The fight will stream live worldwide on DAZN.
