Katie Taylor Wants Amanda Serrano Rematch
And Amanda Serrano responded positively to it.
After traveling half of the world and dominating her opponents, Katie Taylor has finally decided to go back home.
Taylor improved her record to 22-0 when she faced Argentina’s, Karen Elizabeth Carabajal at Wembley Arena this past Saturday. It was a happy return for the Irish superstar as she registered her fourteenth defense of at least one lightweight title and sixth as undisputed champion following a ten-round, unanimous decision over Carabajal.
The 36-year-old made her professional debut at the same venue six years ago.
Taylor showed no signs of rustiness as she got into work from the starting bell.
Before this fight, Taylor secured the biggest triumph of her career when she defeated Brooklyn-based Puerto Rican star Amanda Serrano via split decision in their unforgettable super fight on April 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
After the fight, both warriors had agreed to see each other again in the ring at least once. Taylor demanded that the rematch should be staged in her native country of Ireland where she has yet to box professionally.
“I’ve always said, we want the (rematch) with Amanda Serrano,” Taylor (22-0, 6KOs) said following her latest win.
“Croke Park (in Dublin), 80,000 people. It will be the biggest event in women’s boxing history.”
Serrano responded positively and is happy to go down under to give the Irish fans once in a lifetime experience.
The record-setting seven-division champ praised Taylor for her exhibition against Carabajal while speaking her mind out.
“Congratulations, Katie Taylor,” Serrano stated immediately after Taylor’s latest win. “2023, we dance again.”
Serrano (43-2-1, 30KOs) bounced back with a comprehensive win over unbeaten Sarah Mahfoud to win the IBF featherweight title while defending her WBC/WBO belts last month.
The 34-year-old now wants to avenge her loss against Taylor next and is happy to accept any offers to fulfil this wish.
