Katie Taylor Wants To Beat Amanda Serrano To Make 2022 ‘Career-Defining Year’

Katie Taylor (20-0 6Kos) has no plans of taking 2022 lightly. She is ready to go all in, take one step at a time, and come out on top in every fight she features in this year.

The undisputed lightweight champion and has been heavily blinked with a super fight against Amanda Serrano. A date and location hasn’t yet been chalked out, but both parties have given a green signal to sign on the dotted line soon.

In an interview to ESPN, Taylor revealed what she is looking forward to.

“I think 2022 could potentially be the biggest year of my whole career, because of the opportunities I’ll have to be involved in the biggest fights that women’s boxing has seen,” she said.

“I don’t know the order my fights will go in for sure, but I know that the next fight has to be against Amanda Serrano. I would be hugely disappointed if it wasn’t.”

The pound-for-pound queen also has her eyes beyond the Serrano bout.

“Outside of Serrano, you have Jessica McCaskill or Chantelle Cameron, if she fights Kali Reis and becomes undisputed at junior welterweight. These are the types of names that could make for huge, huge fights,” Taylor added.
