Kayla Harrison Considering Cutting Down To Bantamweight

Kayla Harrison, the undefeated lightweight champion of PFL is unsure where she will continue her career, but she plans to cut some weight and make the bantamweight limit, if possible.

As a professional mixed martial arts fighter, she achieved the most success in the lightweight division and participated in featherweight. However, she has never tried to make the bantamweight 135 pounds (61Kg), limit.

“I’m considering it,” Harrison said.

“I heard that Julianna said she’d move up to 145 if they paid her enough, so that’s good news. That means I don’t have to chop off an arm. … I want to be the best. Everyone is talking about her.”

In the UFC, Pena just dethroned former the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter, Amanda Nunes, and Harrison is really interested in fighting with her.

Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo participated in 78 kilograms, which is around 172 pounds, the welterweight division, in MMA.

Now, she at least knows what’s important for her career moving forward.

“There’s no guarantees in this life. There’s no certainties. I could snap my neck tomorrow and never fight again,” Harrison added. “Security is important. But if I can find a way to have security and continue to build my legacy, I think that’s a winner.”
