Kayla Harrison: Cris Cyborg Does A Lot Of Talking & Not A Lot Of Signing
Kayla Harrison thinks Cris Cyborg does more talking than taking action.
Harrison is considered to be PFL’s biggest star by many fans and experts. She is a two-time Olympic judo gold medalist and is undefeated in her pro MMA career with a record of 8-0. Harrison captured the 2019 PFL Lightweight Championship after defeating Larissa Pacheco in a rematch.
Harrison has long expressed her desire to share the cage with Cyborg. Ultimately, Cyborg ended up signing with Bellator when she split from the UFC. The news was disappointing to Harrison as Cyborg had also said she’s interested in fighting her.
Last month, Cyborg said she’s willing to move up to 155 pounds to go one-on-one with Harrison. During an interview with MMAMania.com, Harrison shared her belief that it’s all talk.
“I was disappointed because obviously, she’s one of the best. I wanna test myself, I wanna challenge myself. I want to prove I’m the best, not just to myself but to everyone. But I wasn’t surprised, I knew she was gonna sign with Bellator because I knew that it was a place where she would be more comfortable. Now she’s saying she wants to fight me but she had an opportunity to fight me last year. She does a lot of talking but not a lot of signing on the dotted line.”
Harrison last competed back in November 2020. She defeated Courtney King via second-round TKO under the Invicta FC banner. Harrison will be competing in the 2021 PFL women’s lightweight season.
