Kayla Harrison To Face Julia Budd Next
Kayla Harrison might be taking on her toughest challenge yet.
Harrison (13-0) will take on Julia Budd (16-4) in the main event of PFL 6 on July 1 in Atlanta, ESPN reported on Wednesday.
Harrison, a two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion, is coming off a unanimous decision win against Marina Mokhnatkina at PFL 3 on May 6. Harrsion said she was unimpressed with her victory because it went the distance for the first time in three years.
Still, Harrison is regarded as one of the best female fighters in the MMA world.
Budd, meanwhile, has lost to three of the top female fighters off all time: Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg and Ronda Rousey.
She is looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Genah Fabian also on the May 6 PFL card. Before that loss, Budd had won 14 of her last 15 fights. Her sole defeat in that run was against Cyborg.
Budd was Bellator’s women’s featherweight champion from 2017 to 2020.
The co-main event of PFL 6 will feature former Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald and Sadibou Sy.
