Two time Olympic Gold medalist Kayla Harrison is ready to go from the world of judo, to Mixed Martial Arts.
On Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour, Harrison announced that she will fight for the first time in MMA on June 21st for the Professional Fighters League’s season second event in Chicago.
Harrison, who joined the company while it was still known as the World Series Of Fighting, is excited to show her skills as a more complete fighter.
“I’ve been waiting for a long time to fight,” Harrison said. “First, it was just me, I wanted to get my feet wet, get in there, see if I liked getting punched in the face and now that I’ve established that I do, we’ve sort of been waiting for the PFL to get their stuff together. Their stuff is together.
“Their first card is June 7 at Madison Square Garden, so I’m going to fight on the second card. June 21 in Chicago.”
The issue seemed to be finding an opponent, as the former Olympic champion had two opponents pull out before an unannounced third opponent stepped up to the challenge.
