Keith Thurman To Return From Two-Year Hiatus

Keith Thurman is set to make his return to the boxing ring against Mario Barrios.

Thurman and Barrios have reportedly struck a deal for a welterweight fight to headline a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view event on January 29, 2022, ESPN reported.

A location has yet to be finalized.

Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs) is coming off a split decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in July 2019 — his sole pro defeat. Despite hitting the mat in the first round, Thurman was able to pull through the fight with the future Hall of Famer.

Barrios (26-1, 17 KOs), meanwhile, most recently lost to Gervonta Davis in Round 11 in a 140-pound matchup in June. To fight Thurman, he’ll be moving up to 147 pounds.

It would be a second straight headline appearance on pay-per-view for Thurman.
