Keito Yamakita impressed the crowd in Tokyo with his first-round submission of Koyuru Tanoue in their all-Japanese 125-pound MMA matchup.
ONE Samurai took place on Saturday at the Ota City Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. The event was the second edition in ONE Championship’s new monthly series of fights taking place in Japan.
Heading into the match, Yamakita was seeking a fifth straight victory under the ONE Championship banner, after securing submission finishes in two of his last four fights. Meanwhile, Tanoue had built most of his professional MMA career with Japanese promotion ‘Shooto’, but was making his anticipated ONE debut this weekend.
It took Yamakita less than one full round to violently welcome Tanoue to the promotion, with a constricting bulldog choke that ended the action at 4:37 in the first. Through this victory, Yamakita improved his overall professional record to 13-1, while Tanoue suffered the fifth loss in his sixteen-fight career.
