Kell Brook Barely Reached Las Vegas Ahead Of Terence Crawford Fight
Kell Brook’s plan to challenge Terence Crawford for the WBO Welterweight Title was almost foiled.
Brook is set to take on Crawford in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing card on November 14. The title fight is scheduled to air live on the major ESPN network. Brook is hoping to become the first man to hand Crawford a loss on his pro boxing record.
Brook almost missed out on his opportunity to fight Crawford. That’s because another lockdown was implemented in Sheffield. Brook was able to avoid disaster by arriving in Las Vegas early (via BoxingScene.com).
“I got here just at the right time before this lockdown came in Sheffield and in England. You know, because we’re in a full lockdown until December the 2nd. I’m so thankful that we got my visa, we did what we needed to do. We came out here to Las Vegas just in time.”
“We thought we were over it. But it’s like anything – you know, what’s today is not always what’s tomorrow. And basically, it’s started to get worse and they announced there was gonna be a full lockdown. So, if you’re not on the ball, if you’re not on it, I could’ve got tied in with all that and not been able to fly. So, I’m just happy that we did what we did, and we got here when we did. We needed to climatize anyway in Las Vegas.”
Brook is no stranger to gold. He is a former IBF Welterweight Champion. Some believe that this will be Brook’s final chance to shine in a high-profile title fight. Brook isn’t a fan of the notion that he’s cashing in on one last big payday.
