Kell Brook & Eddie Hearn Exchange Words After Fallout

Things aren’t as rosy as they once were with Kell Brook and Eddie Hearn.

Brook was a part of Matchroom Boxing and has been featured in massive title fights under the promotion. While it seemed like a match made in heaven with Brook and Hearn, things have taken a turn. Brook will not have the backing of Matchroom for his WBO Welterweight Title Fight against champion Terence Crawford.

Brook spoke to iFL TV and claimed that Hearn was well aware of negotiations for his fight with Crawford and turned a blind eye to it (via Michael Benson).

“Eddie has always been there involved with this fight, for six/seven weeks from today he’s always been involved. He knew the date, we kept him in the loop, all he had to do was sign the contract for Brook, but he was more interested in signing books. That’s what’s happened with Eddie Hearn there. I got him out of jail with the Golovkin fight, the PPV slot right there, I saved the day. I’ve always been a Sky Sports fighter, been in with Shawn Porter, Errol Spence, Golovkin. I’ve made some amazing nights with Sky.

“The fans, I wanna give back to people that subscribe to Sky, I want my fans to see me fight the pound-for-pound king in Crawford. But like I just mentioned about Eddie, it’s not come off the way I wanted it to come off so I’m absolutely gutted.”

Hearn gave his response to iFL TV and denied Brook’s claim.

“I was never involved with one conversation they had with Top Rank regarding this fight, no consultation, no opinion from me, no part of the negotiations of the deal whatsoever. They chose to do this all themselves. Was that because they didn’t wanna pay me? Or they wanted to go their separate way? Once you turn your back on me, don’t ever turn round and start walking back to me. You’re either with me or you’re not.”

Crawford vs. Brook will take place on November 14. The bout will air live on ESPN in the United States. Premier Sports 1 will be the broadcast home of the fight in the UK. Usually, Brook fights on Sky Sports but the fallout with Matchroom Boxing forced a change.
