Kell Brook Offered Jeff Horn Fight
After he was passed over for a fight with Amir Khan, Kell Brook has been offered a fight against former world welterweight champion Jeff Horn.
Horn, who was last seen defeating Anthony Mundine, has been offered by his promoter Dean Lonergan to face Kell Brook at super-middleweight.
Lonergan told Sky Sports: “I’ve got a text into Eddie at the moment, my matchmaker has an email and a phone call into Eddie, we love this fight, to have Jeff Horn fight Kell Brook.
“If you were going to do it, you would definitely go to England, because the boxing market up there is on fire, and Kell Brook in Sheffield, which is where he comes from, you’re definitely going to be filling a stadium wherever you go.”
Brook would defeat Michael Zerfara in December, lining him up to be mandatory challenger to Jarrett Hurd’s WBA title, but Hurd is looking at IBF challenger Julian Williams for his return.
“We think Zerafa is a fighter that Jeff Horn would totally dominate and destroy within five or six rounds, and Kell Brook couldn’t put him away,” said Lonergan.
When asked about Crawford-Khan, Lonergan feels that it is a risky proposition for Khan.
“For Khan, the Kell Brook-Amir Khan fight will always be there, but it would lack the same luster, if Khan was to lose heavily to Crawford. Crawford can really bang. Not only can Crawford bang, he’s a superb mover.”
Crawford defeated Horn in 2018 for the WBO welterweight title in Las Vegas with a 9th round TKO.
