Kevin Holland Shares The Personal Significance Behind His UFC 327 Victory

Fan favorite welterweight Kevin Holland is riding high following his win over Randy Brown this past Saturday at UFC 327, but it seems this victory meant a great deal to him on a personal level as well.

Prior to last weekend, Holland was facing dark times with the promotion, losing to both Daniel Rodriguez and Mike Malott in 2025. But now, with 2026 going his way, he is prepared to make an impact as he once again approaches the top ten at 170-pounds.

In an interview this week, as a follow-up to his bounce-back win, Holland talked to UFC commentator Jon Anik and former top contender Kenny Florian on their podcast. During the interview, Holland revealed that his father has been in prison for the fighter’s entire life, but in spite of this, he says they have a strong relationship. ‘Trailblazer’ went on to explain that the UFC 327 victory over Brown was made extra special for Holland by the fact that his father got to watch him fight for the first time, as the broadcast was on CBS which the prison has access to.

“Fun fact – when they told me I was going to be on the undercard…my grandfather kind of calculated it up and learned I was going to be on CBS. My grandfather lit up because he said ‘Your father is finally going to be able to watch you fight!’” Holland began.

“My father’s been incarcerated my whole life, and we have a great relationship. So it was cool that he was going to be able to see me fight. My father got on the phone with my Mom after the fight, and he said the whole prison yard was chanting ‘Holland! Holland! Holland!’. The prison yard was rumbling, crumbling, going freaking crazy in there.

“Between the guards, the inmates, everyone just loved the fact that they got to watch me fight at that time,” Holland continued. “Happy to be a fan favorite, and it’s a hell of a package.”
