Kevin Lee To ‘Make A Little Piece Of History’ With Eagle FC, Paid Exclusively In Bitcoin
Former UFC welterweight Kevin Lee has already found a new home.
Lee recently signed with Eagle Fight Club (Eagle FC), which is under the direction of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, and he is already looking to make history.
“I’ll be the first 165-pound world champion,” Lee said on Wednesday. “It’ll feel nice to make a little piece of history for mixed martial arts.”
Along with his four-fight contract, Lee will be paid through cryptocurrency Bitcoin. He said on The MMA Hour that he has a deal “worth millions of dollars in Bitcoin.”
He added that this isn’t the first time cryptocurrency has financed him before. He invested in Bitcoin four years ago, which allowed himto make money while he was dealing with injuries last year.
The 29-year-old was released from the UFC after losing four of five and failing a post-fight drug test.
Lee is expected to make his Eagle FC debut on March 11 against an opponent to be determined.
“It’s amazing… walking into this building feels like a fresh start,” Lee added.
“I could feel like a new energy. And to be around a great champion and great champions in the past and try to follow in their footsteps, I feel like it’s big shoes to fill, and I’m here to do that.”
