While his future may be uncertain with the UFC, Khabib Nurmagomedov may follow Conor McGregor’s path by calling out Floyd Mayweather.
The current UFC lightweight champion currently has his purse withheld and is on a temporary suspension for his role in a post-fight brawl at UFC 229 last weekend, and Nurmagomedov called out Mayweather via an Instagram video.
In the video posted by Mayweather CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Nurmagomedov said: “Let’s go Floyd. We have to fight now: 50-0 versus 27-0.
“We are two guys who never lose. (But) in the jungle there is only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop McGregor but I drop him easily. Let’s go.”
Both Khabib and Ellerbe were in Russia for the World Boxing Super Series event, where Mayweather promotions prospect Andrew Tabiti advanced in the cruiserweight tournament with a win over Russia’s undefeated Ruslan Fayfer.
With Mayweather eyeing a two fight return involving Manny Pacquiao and Nurmagomedov’s status in the air, who knows what the future would hold for either fighter.
