Khabib Nurmagomedov Announces Eagle Fighting Championship
Khabib Nurmagomedov has announced his new MMA promotion.
Nurmagomedov is the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion. Despite announcing his retirement, he has yet to exit the USADA testing pool. UFC President Dana White believes “The Eagle” will think twice about retiring and Nurmagomedov addressed the topic during a press conference in Moscow.
But first, there was a major announcement by Khabib. One of the greatest MMA fighters of all time revealed his new promotion, Eagle Fighting Championship (via Chisanga Malata).

“Khabib Nurmagomedov officially announced the formation of Eagle Fighting Championship today. The promotion’s shows will be aired on UFC Fight Pass. Additionally, Khabib said he’ll only end his retirement from MMA if his mother gives him her blessing.”
As mentioned in Malata’s post, EFC fights will be airing on UFC Fight Pass. As for Nurmagomedov’s fighting status, it all boils down to whether or not his mother softens her stance. “The Eagle’s” mother wanted her son to retire after the death of his father, Abdulmanap.
Nurmagomedov last competed on October 24. He successfully defended his 155-pound gold against Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 254. Nurmagomedov won the bout in dominant fashion, scoring a second-round submission finish. After the fight, Nurmagomedov took off his gloves and announced his retirement.
