Khabib Nurmagomedov Thinks There’s Been A Decline In MMA
Khabib Nurmagomedov thinks that MMA is not as interesting anymore.
The former UFC champion recently questioned the belief that MMA peaked and is now kind of stalling. Nurmagomedov paused to collect himself before speculating that there may be a “decline” in the sport.
“Maybe it seems that way to me because the fire inside me went out to some extent, but I think there has been a slight dip in MMA,” Nurmagomedov said.
“That’s my perspective. Maybe I’m wrong. I think the flame went out a little, and there is a slight decline.”
As soon as Khabib retired from professional MMA, he continued his career in different fields. He started his MMA promotion, Eagle FC and in addition to that, he also invested in several businesses.
Mainly, his aim is to “continue father’s plan” and help Islam Makhachev to become a lightweight champion.
Makhachev was raised by Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap, too, who said that Makhachev would become champion after Khabib.
Makhachev and Charles Oliveira will fight for the UFC lightweight title this Saturday at UFC 280.
