Nurmagomedov will return to the Octagon for the first time since the brawl with Conor McGregor and his team following Nurmagomedov’s successful defense of the lightweight crown at UFC 229 last October.
Poirier gets a long awaited shot at the title following his taking of the interim title in what many consider a classic fight with featherweight champion Max Holloway earlier this year at UFC 236.
Earlier this week, Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap, claimed his son had options for UFC 242 from Abu Dhabi on September 7th, but now the papers are signed and it has become “Twitter official” by the organization on Tuesday.
It’s signed! (C) @TeamKhabib vs (IC) @DustinPoirier is official for #UFC242!
