Khamzat Chimaev And Sean Strickland’s Final Face-Off Ahead Of UFC 328
Friday evening at the Prudential Center in Newark, the fighters of UFC 328 faced off one last time during the ceremonial weigh-in show ahead of their meetings in the octagon Saturday evening.
In the main event on Saturday, May 8th, Sean Strickland will get an opportunity to regain the middleweight title, which he held between 2023 and 2024, when he comes face to face with Khamzat Chimaev in the center of the cage. Strickland most recently defeated Anthony Hernandez with a punishing stoppage in the third round of their main event contest back in February. Meanwhile, Chimaev will be looking to defend his title for the first time since earning the belt with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Dricus Du Plessis in August 2025.

In the co-main event, Joshua Van will also be facing his first test as champion when he squares off with No. 3 ranked flyweight Tatsuro Taira. Van earned the title under abnormal circumstances last December when former champion Alexandre Pantoja injured his arm during their fight. Pantoja could no longer continue their match, so Van was crowned the new flyweight king and became the first UFC champion born in Myanmar.
The action of UFC 328 will get started at 5:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT on UFC Fight Pass & Paramount+ with eight preliminary bouts.
Following, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. the five-fight Paramount+ main card will start, and will conclude with two electrifying title fights.
