Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns Set To Run It Back

Khamzat Chimaev (15-1) and Gilbert Burns (22-10) will run back their UFC 273 fight on the RAF mats, meeting in a catchweight co-main event at RAF 13 on September 18 at the Watsco Center in Miami.

Chimaev defeated Burns by unanimous decision at UFC 273 in 2022. At the time, Chimaev was 10-0 with every previous victory coming by knockout or submission.

The bout marks Chimaev’s third RAF appearance in four months. He defeated Dillon Danis in June and is also scheduled to face Tyron Woodley at RAF Moscow on September 5.

Chimaev’s most recent UFC appearance ended in his first professional loss when Sean Strickland defeated him for the UFC middleweight title in May.

Burns retired from MMA in April following a third-round knockout loss to Mike Malott, his fifth consecutive defeat. He has continued competing in grappling and submitted Horlando Monteiro in 82 seconds at UFC BJJ 9 in June.

RAF 13 will mark Burns’ debut with the promotion.

The card is headlined by Colby Covington defending his RAF cruiserweight title against longtime rival Belal Muhammad.
