Khamzat Chimaev: ‘I Become The Borz Now. I Eat Everyone’
Ever since making his debut in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev is on a mission to smash everyone who is thrown in front of him in the octagon.
The 27-year-old Chechnyan-Swedish is on roll and runs over his opponents like a mad truck. In a very short time, he has become a fan favorite.
After his recent demolition of Jingliang Li at UFC 267, Chimaev issued a stern warning for the rest of the welterweight division, stating, “I Become The Borz Now. I Eat Everyone.”
When Chimaev first walked to the octagon, nobody knew how big an impact he would leave on the MMA scene. But his two wins in just 10 days, made people realize that there is a new “Monster” in the arena and from there on, he has become the talk of the town.
Chimaev made his UFC debut against John Phillips on July 16, 2020.
His performance left everyone in awe as the “Borz” finished his opponent via rear-naked choked in the very first round of the bout.
“I NEVER FELT IN TROUBLE. I DO THIS WITH ALL MY OPPONENTS – I SMASH THEM ALL, FIRST ROUND, SECOND ROUND,” he said after the fight. “I HAVE SEVEN WINS, SEVEN FINISHES”.
After his first smashing in the octagon, Chimaev was presented with another opportunity in less than 10 days’ time.
This time a much stronger foe, a Jiju-Jitsu Black belt holder, having a much better ground game than the previous one, but again, the result was no different with Chimaev again establishing his dominance in the center of the octagon, knocking out his adversary in the very first round.
The UFC President, Dana White was full of praise for the Chechnyan-born fighter.
“I LOVE HOW TALENTED THIS GUY IS. WE THREW THE HOTTEST PROSPECT OUT OF THE U.K. AT HIM AND THAT KID IS A BADASS. THAT KID IS A LEGIT GREAT FIGHTER. (CHIMAEV) MADE IT LOOK LIKE HE DIDN’T BELONG THERE. … THE KID IS LEGIT. HE’S REAL AND HE KNOWS IT AND I LOVE IT,” he said.
Chimaev wanted next victim in the octagon, Gerald Meerschaert. His opponent didn’t like that the “Borz” is already considered one of the stars of the promotion. He was in pursuit of finishing the hype train, but little did he know, it was indeed curtains for him as Chimaev wasted no time and dusted him in a mere 17 seconds.
Following Chimaev’s third victory, the longtime UFC commentator took to Twitter and said,
“There is no doubt now. @KChimaev is THE TRUTH”.
After his recent win against Li at UFC 267, there are many speculations that Chimaev will soon be challenging current pound-for-pound leader Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title.
Whether that fight comes to reality or not, for the time being, we can just relish the Chechnyan’s presence in the octagon — the flare and the hype.
